Peter Oliver resident of St. Mathews Parish Orangeburg District….aged 80 years or nearly… Entered the service of North Carolina in the militia ….against the tory in 1774 Enlisted in Capt. Eli Kershaw’s company in the third Regiment of South Carolina troops called Rangers…. Became Captain, then Major He was born in St. Mathews Parish not far from where he now lives. He has no record of his age. His mother told him he was born in 1752, but his ??? told him he was born in 1754. There is no mention of family in this file, other than that he his called Peter Oliver, Senior.
