The founding fathers deemed it necessary to establish the original church in what was then called the Old Branch Station School House (probably to indicate the location of the church). Services were conducted there by those founding fathers under the pastorship of the Reverend B. H. Hendricks• The school served as a place of worship until February of 1933, at which time the body was able to build New Foundation Baptist Church, which was erected near . the school. Upon the completion of the new church, the founders agreed that the Rev. Hendricks should continue his services as pastor of their church. In accordance with his faith. Rev. Hendricks continued serving the church as long as his health would allow him. Since his health would not allow Rev. Hendricks to conduct services as he wished, the administrators decided to appoint an assistant pastor. The Rev. Willie Baker was appointed as the Assistant Pastor some time in 1942. This arrangement was maintained until the death of Rev. Hendricks, after which Rev. Willie Baker became the full-time pastor. Under the pastorship of Rev. Willie Baker, the original administration continued serving as they had during Rev. Hendricks' pastorship. The administration consisted mostly of the founding fathers who were Mr. W. H. Bowens, Mr. Will Hunt, Mr. Bobby Smith, Mr. T. Black, Mr. Henry L. Hendricks and Mr. William (Bud) Murphy. As time passed by. Rev. Baker fell into ill health and departed his life on earth after serving for 13 years as pastor of New Foundation Baptist Church. After the death of Rev. Baker, the church elected the Rev. F. H. Goldsmith as its new pastor. This was the Rev. Goldsmith's first pastorship and he proved to be a capable leader. After about two years. Rev. Goldsmith decided to resign his pastorship at New Foundation and accept a pastorship in Brevard, North Carolina. After the departure of Rev. F. H. Goldsmith, the administration elected the Rev. H. L. Sullivan as pastor of the church. Rev. Sullivan also proved to be a true man of God and very capable of taking the responsibilities of pastorship in his hands. Rev. Sullivan served for nearly eight years after which he decided to accept pastorship in Seneca, South Carolina. Upon the departure of Rev. Sullivan, the church elected its present pastor, the Rev. J. E. Dixon. Rev. Dixon has proven capable of rendering spiritual guidance. He has constantly expressed his concern in the future church, and has established several organizations within the church that are centered around the youths of the church. The members hope that Rev. Dixon will remain with the church and continue his work with the youths, and help pave a spiritual path for generations to follow. By: Unknown Author o----------o New Foundation Baptist In 1925, several members of the community felt the need for a church where they might educate and train their children in a Christian environment. At first the congregation met in the old Brights Station School off Lenhardt Road. Under the pastorship of the Rev. B.H. Hendricks, the church group continued to use the school until 1933. At that time, the New Foundation Baptist Church erected a building near the school. In 1942, Rev. Willie Baker was appointed assistant pastor and served as such until the death of Rev. Hendricks, when he became a fulltime pastor. Pastors serving since Rev. Baker have included Rev. F. H. Goldsmith, Rev. H. L. Sullivan, and the Rev. J. E. Dixon. The New Foundation Baptist Church is a member of the Oolenoy River Education and Missionary Baptist Association and continues a tradition of service to its people and this community.
