C. TAVERN LICENSE The State of South Carolina Pickens County.) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of Pickens County. The humble petition of the undersigned Citizens of the County and State aforesaid. Respectfully petition your Honorable Board for a Tavern License to keep a Tavern and retail Spiritious Liquors at the house whereon we now live at at the forks of the Greenville and Pickensville Road just outside of the corporate limits of the Village of Pickens for twelve months from this date. Your petitioners is prepared to keep a Tavern, and has at least two spare beds and necessary bedding more than are required for the families of the applicants and are well provided with house room and stabling and provender for four horses. J. Perry Looper B. B. Gilstrap March 22, 1873 We the undersigned Citizens residing in the neighborhood, where the said J. Perry Looper and B. B. Gilstrap proposes to open and keep a Tavem License, and we certify that the said J. Perry Looper and B. B. Gilstrap are gentlemen of good repute for honesty and sobriety, and is known to us to have at least two spare beds, and necessary bedding, more than are required for the families of the said applicants, and is well provided with house room stabling and provender for four horses.
