Edens Release for 312 Acres Land The State of South Carolina This indenture made the nineteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one between Miles M. Norton Esquire Commissioner of the Honorable Court of Equity for Pickens District at Pickens C.H. in the said State of the one part and William Edens and Alexander Edens of the same of the other part. Whereas John A. Chastain did on or about the 21st day of April 1851 exhibit his bill of complaint in the Court of Equity at Pickens C.H. in the said State against Temperence Chastain William Chastain Tilmon Chastain Lucinda Chastain Alfred M. C. Chastain Austin M. Chastain Nancy E. Chastain Alexander Edens and William Edens for distribution of the Real Estate of Abner Chastain deceased And the cause being at issue before the Honorable Court came on to be heard at June Term one thousand eight hundred and fifty one when the said court after full hearing thereof and mature deliberation in the premises did order ajudge and decree that the said lands should be sold at Public Auction by the Commissioner of the said Court on the Terms and for the purposes mentioned in their D____t_l Order or by reference thereto in the registry of the said court will appear And the said Miles M. Norton as Commissioner of the said court after having duly advertised the said lands for sale at public outcry on the fourth day of August first above mentioned did then openly and publicly and according to the custom of auction sell and dispose of the said tract of land below described unto the said Wm Edens & Alex. Edens for one thousand Six hundred dollars they being at that price the highest bidders for the same. Now Therefore This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Miles M. Norton as Commissioner of the said court under and by virtue of the said Decree and in consideration of the sum of one thousand Six hundred Dollars paid him by the said William Edens & Alex Edens the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said Wm Edens and Alexander Edens their heirs and assigns All that plantation piece parcel or tract of land known in the proceedings of this case as Tract No. 2 containing three hundred and twelve acres be the same more or less situated in Pickens District on Woolenoy Creek adjoining lands of Rev Lynch? Roper Alexander Edens and others Together with all and singular the hereditaments rights members and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Tract of land belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversions and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and also all the Estate rights title interest Dower possession property benefit claim and demand whatsoever both in law and in Equity of the heirs and representatives of the said Abner Chastain decd. and of all the parties to this suit and of all other persons rightfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof by from or under them or either of them To have and to hold the said tract ofland with its hereditaments privileges and appurtenances unto the said William Edens & Alexander Edens their Heirs and assigns to them and theirs only proper use behoof forever. In Witness whereof the sid Miles M. Norton as commissioner of the said Court under and by virtue of the said Decree hath hereunto set his hand and seal of the Court on the day and year first above written. Taylor before me and made oath he did see Miles M.
