NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, MAY 6, 1870

We are pained to announce the death of Mr. Elijah ALEXANDER Sr. of Pickens 
county, in the ninety-eighth year of his age. The deceased was one of the 
oldest and most highly respected citizens who lived to see his country 
achieve independence and through the passage of time, witnessed the 
demoralization, degradation and loss of liberty.
