A. M. Spalding, Major Andrew Hamilton of Pickens to Miss Mary Ann Eliza, eldest daughter of Hugh Stokes, Esq, of this District Married on Tuesday evening, the 20th inst., by the Rev. Joseph Robinson, Mr. Fielder Gosset of Pickens District to Miss Sobrinia J., eldest daughter of Mr. John Benson of Greenville Departed this life, on the 8th ult., at his residence on Twelve Mile, Pickens District, Rev. Philip Porter in the 77th year of his age. The deceased was a sealous defender of the great truths of Christianity as promulgated by the Methodist Episcopal Church. When quite young he embraced the cause of religion, thereby giving the best years of this life to the service of the Creator. At an early period of his life he engaged actively in the war which terminated in our freedom and independence as a nation; and has left a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Temperance Advocate Another Revolutionary Soldier Gone! Died at his residence on George's Creek in Pickens District, on Wednesday, the 28th May, last, Mr. Archibald McMahan, upwards of eighty years of age, and has been a citizen of that neighborhood for many years Departed this life on the 6th inst. Mrs. Ann Lynch, in the 89th year of her age, having been an orderly member of the Baptist Church for the last fifty-three years. She was the widow of the late Capt. Wm. Lynch of Pickens District, S. C., and formerly a resident of Pittsylvania County, Va. She has left numerous friends and relatives to mourn her loss. Married - On the 1st inst., by the Rev. Mr. Hutchings, Dr. John M. ____ of Spartanburgh to Miss Sarah Hamby (?) of Pickens District. Died - On the 21st of November, at his residence on Tugaloo, Pickens District, Benjamin Perry, Sr., in the eighty-second year of his age. The deceased was a native of Massachusetts, but for more than a half century past, a resident citizen of South Carolina. He…heard the first guns fired in the cause of Independence, at Concord, on the 19th of April, 1775. At the age of sixteen he…volunteered his services in defense… of his country. In 1784 he came to Charleston and thence to Greenville. Some years afterward having purchased a farm on Tugaloo he removed there and spent the remainder of his days in…seclusion. He was a kind neighbor and a sincere friend, an affectionate husband, and a devoted father.
