Last Will and Testament of ELIZABETH (COATS) (WATSON) GRISHAM, written 1844 Submitted by Traci Parsons-Holder , September 1999 STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, PICKENS DISTRICT ~ In the name of God Amen. I ELIZABETH GRISHAM being old and infirm in body but in my proper senses and in perfect mind and memory blessed be God for the same do testament and bequeath my soul to God my redeemer and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner. Secondly I do will and bequeath all my ready money and cash notes consisting of four hundred dollars with what interest may occur on the same at my death. I do will and bequeath the above named amount at my death to be divided into nine equal parts among by bodily heirs namely as follows: MARY ROE my dear daughter the former wife of ANCEL ROE, NANCY JARRET my daughter the wife of DAVID JARRET, KIZZIAH ALEXANDER my daughter and wife of THOMAS ALEXANDER, SALLY GROGAN my daughter and wife of RICHARD GROGAN, ELIZABETH BARNS my daughter and wife of GABRIEL BARNS, HANNAH ALEXANDER my daughter and wife of WM. ALEXANDER, EMILIA ALEXANDER and wife of FOUNTAIN ALEXANDER, SARAH HIX ALEXANDER my granddaughter and wife of ELISHA ALEXANDER, DIANA STEWART my daughter and wife of ABRAHAM STEWART and lastly at my death to the above named amount of money to be collected by my executor and equally divided among the above named heirs. DANIEL ALEXANDER whom I hereby appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills made by me in witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and seal this the 29th day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Four.
