Last Will and Testament of Isaac Rice (Sr.) Recorded in Pickens District Will Book No. 1, pages 223-224 State of South Carolina, Pickens District. In the name of God, Amen: I, ISAAC RICE, of the St. and District aforesd. Being weake in body but of sound mind and memory and knowing that all men have to die think it to be my duty to dispose of my effects in the following manner, that is, I want all my just debts to be pay out of my estate and my body desently buryed at the expence of my Executors. Secondly, I will that my beloved wife ELIZABETH shall have the privilege of my house and a comforte support on the premises if she should make choice so to doe and I also give her a negro woman named PACIENCE to wait on her during her life or widowhood and at the expiration of that turm and then sd. Woman PATIANCE to be sold and the money to be equally divided amongst my daughters, to-wit, NANCY ELIZABETH VINEY SUSANA and ARMINDAY five and I also will to my above named Daughters all the household effects with all my stock and movible affects with an exception of one hundred dollars to be raised out of the same for the use of my oldest son LEWIS if the heirs can come to an agreement between themselves and if not the property to be sold or at least so much as will raise the sd. Sum of one hundred dollars. And I also will my lands to my two youngest sons, to-wit, J. ISAAC and JORDAN to be equally divided between themselves, and I also appoint my wife ELIZABETH with my two sons J. ISAAC and JORDAN Executors to this my last Will and Testament revoking all former wills heretofore maid by me. In witness whareof I hearunto set my hand and acknowledge my seal this first day of October and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven and in the sixty first and sixty second year of the Independence of the United States of American. The intent and meaning of this above will is that my above named wife shall hold of the above stated household property so many beds and clothing as she may think proper during her life or widowhood as above stated then to fall back to his lawful heirs. Personally appeared ROBERT STEWART and made oath in due form of law that he was present and did see ISAAC RICE, SEN'R, late of Pickens District, deceased, sign, seal and acknowledge the within to be his last will and testament and that WILLIAM HUDSON and JOHN HUDSON was present and saw the same and that they all three did sign their names as witnesses in presence of each other and the testator.
