John Jacob Lindler, 40, New Brookland, employe (sic) of the Broad River Power company, ended his own life some time early Monday morning by shooting himself through the head in his garage at the rear of his home over the river. The body was found about 6 o'clock and it is thought that the shooting occurred about daybreak. Mr. Lindler left a note in his pocket telling of his desire to "end it all" and of his despondency. Near his body lay a 32 caliber pistol. The sound of the fatal shot was heard by several neighbors who lived near the home but they were not conscious that anything serious had occurred. Going to the garage about 6 o'clock his daughter, Annie Mae, found the body on a canvas which he had spread on the ground. She immediately informed other members of the family. Mr. Lindler is survived by his mother, Mrs. Maggie Justus of Red Bank; his widow, the former Miss Carrie Corley; six daughters, Inez, Annie Mae, Kitty, Alice and Louise; three sons, William, James and a three-day-old infant; two sisters, Mrs. A. C. Corder of Rockingham, N.C. and Mrs. Martha Koon of Pomaria; two half-sisters Mrs. Laura Walters of Stilmore, Ga., and Mrs. Janie Epting of Columbia. Mr. Lindler had been with the Broad River Power company since last spring. He repaired street car lines. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock this morning from Mount Hebron Lutheran church near Delmar, nine miles north of Lexington, of which he was a member, with the Rev. C.J. Morgan in charge. Interment will be in the churchyard.
