Butler State of South Carolina County of Edgefield In the Name of God Amen. I Mire J. Butler of the County of Edgefield and State of South Carolina. Being of Sound mind and memory, frail and transitory life. Do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament. That is to say, First to my son Washington Butler my houses and the lands around the house to be divided commencing at the East side of my line and running a South Westerly corse which there is an old Survey making a strait line to go by. Next I give to my daughter E. J. Wates the balance of my land and to my Son D.P. Butler to have in money Ten Dollars and to my Daughter Hattie A. Leopard to have in money Twenty Dollars and to my Grand Children the Heirs of my daughter Nancy L. Rushton Deceased, in money Ten Dollars to be equally divided amongst the said grand children and after my death, and each and every heirs mentioned above have got their portion allotted to them. Then the remainders of all my personal affects in the house and out of doors to be equally divided between my son Washington and my daughter Elizabeth J. Wates. Each to Share and Share alike. Likewise I make, constitute, and appoint my said son Washington and my daughter Elizabeth J. Wates to be the executors of this my last will and testament here by revoking all former wills by me made--------- -- In Witnefs Where of I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my Seal the Nineteenth Day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Six.
