Deeds of Spartanburg County, South Carolina Deed Book I, pages 442-444 James Amos to Patrick Hogan N 440 9th October 1804 This Indenture made the 25th day of November in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and ninety four in the nineteenth Year of the Sovereignty and Independance of America Between James Amos of South Carolina Spartanburgh County of the one part and Patrick of the Same State and County of the other Part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred pounds Sterling money to the Said James Amos well and truly paid by the Said Patrick Hogan before the Seal and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof he the Said James Amos doth hereby acknowledge and himself herewith to be fully Satisfied contented and paid hath bargained Sold Alliened and Confirmed and by these presents doth bargain Sell alien and Confirm unto the Said Patrick Hogan Two tracts of Parcels of Land both lying and being on the east side the North Fork of Tygar River one being the tract on which the said Amos now lives Containing one hundred and fifty acres Granted unto Alexander McCarter by his Excellency William Tryon Esquear Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the then Provence of North Carolina the ninth day of April 17_8 and since from John McCarter unto James Amos by lease and release the other Tract Containing two hundred and thirty three Acres being part of a tract of four hundred acres Granted unto the Said James Amos by his Excellency Charles Pinckney Esquire Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the State of South Carolina the last day of December 1791 The said tract of two hundred and thirty three acres as aforesaid excludes one hundred and Sixty Seven acres Granted by the Said James Amos unto John Brooks beginning at a corner upon the Side of the hill Above the Skool on Young Griffiths land from thence Crossing the branch called Amos branch and the Second fork of Said branch thence to a branch Called the Board tree branch by the head thereof So down Said branch in Sight of the path Called the muling house path thence to the beginning which Said two tracts as aforesaid with the Appertinences and Priviledges therewith belonging as also all rights and Demands from him the Said James Amos his heirs Executors and Administrators unto the Said Patrick Hogan his heirs Executors administrators and assigns. To have and to hold the said above bargained Premises with the appertenences unto the Said Patrick Hogan his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns also the Estate right and title thereof this deed becoming payable unto the State of South Carolina only Excepted and forepassed and the Said James Amos for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators the above bargained Premises with Every the Appertinences thereunto belonging doth warrant and defend unto the said Patrick Hogan his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns from every lawfull Claim and demand whatsoever and from every person or persons laying Claim to the Same so as the true intent and meaning hereof may be any wise incumbered or any wise effected.
