Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Lorene Rambo (Hocott@aol.com) 28 May 1999 ---------------------------------------- Deeds of Spartanburg County, South Carolina Deed Book F, pages 219-220 Zachariah and Elizabeth Robinson to John Rainwater Deed January 20, 1799 Know all men by these presents that I Zachariah Robinson of the State of South Carolina and Spartanburgh for and in Consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by John Rainwater of the County and State aforesaid, the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained Sold and by these presents do bargain sell and make over and convey unto the said John Rainwater his heirs and assigns one Certain tract or parcel of Land, Situate lying and being in the County aforesaid on Lawsons Fork Creek Containing Two hundred acres, be the same more or less, Begining on the line at the branch was agreed upon to be the line between Wells Griffith and Jordan Holcomb Containing said line to the red Oak Corner,, thence runing with Woffords line to John Grays line, thence on John Grays line to the Creek -- thence up the Creek to the East Continuing No. 80 East 36 to a Hickory Corner, thence NE 10 E to a branch, thence Down said branch to a Large Poplar Continuing said Course to a red oak Corner, thence S and E. to the Creek, thence up the Creek to the mouth of a branch agreed upon between Wells Griffith and Jordan Holcomb, thence up said branch to the begining -- To have and to hold, the aforesaid tract of Land with all buildings Improvements and benefits thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining, to the only use of him the said John Rainwater his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever -- and lastly I the said Zachariah Robinson do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns to Warrant and forever defend the above mentioned Tract of Two hundred Acres of Land be the same more or less Clear from any incumbrances and from the Just Claim of any person or persons whomsoever, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal, this twenty Seventh day of November 1796. State of South Carolina Spartanburgh County I Isham Harrison one of the Judges of said County do hereby Certify unto all whom it may Concern that Elizabeth Robinson the wife of the within named Zachariah Robinson did this day appear before me and being privately and separately Examined by me did declare that she does freely and voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear from any person or persons whomever Renounce Release and forever relinquish unto the within named John Rainwater his heirs and assigns all her Inheritance and Estate all Right and Claim of Dower of in or to all and Singular the premises above mentioned and Released.
