Deeds of Spartanburg County, South Carolina Deed Book F, page 74 John Robertson to Grove Cole Deed January 28th 1798 State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that I John Robertson of Spartanburgh County and State aforesaid for and in Consideration of thirty pounds Sterling money to me paid by Grove Cole of Spartanburgh County in the State aforesaid, have granted bargained Sold and Released and by these presents do grant bargain Sell and Release unto the Grove Cole all that tract or parcel of Land, it being half of a three Hundred and fifty acre tract, granted to David Jones, the said Land lying and bounding on the North west of the said plat, Begining on a pine about the Middle of the old line, runs N 30 E 38 Chains and a half chain and forty links to a post Oak, thence N 60 W 45 chains to a Stake, thence S 30 W 38 and a half chains and forty links to the middle of the old line, and from thence a strait line to the Begining, it containing one Hundred and seventy five acres (be it the same more or less) Together with all and Singular the Rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appurtaining, To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Grove Cole his heirs and assigns forever, and I do hereby bind myself my heirs, Executors and administrators to warrant and forever Defend, all and Singular the Said premises, unto the said Grove Cole his heirs and assigns, against my self and my heirs, and against every person whomsoever Lawfully Claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof -- Witness my hand and Seal this Ninth day of February in the year of our Lord 1797, and in the Thirty-second year of the Independency of the United States of America.
