Deeds of Spartanburg County, South Carolina Deed Book F, pages 95-96 Joseph Robertson to Absalom Lancaster April 8th 1798 State of South Carolina, Spartanburgh County-- Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Robertson and Drucilla my wife of the County and State aforesaid for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds Sterling money here in hand paid by Absalom Lancaster of the State and County aforesaid have granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant Bargain Sell and Release unto the said Absalom Lancaster his heirs and assigns all that tract of Land lying and being in the state and County aforeaid on a branch on the south side of Lawsons fork Called Chinquepin, Joining Wells Griffiths land and Diskin Grants land, on the North East side of said tract, and Thomas Williamson's land on the southeast of said tract of Land at the time of the Original Survey, and Runs South East 50 degrees 25..50-- thence North East 19..29 chs thence South East 71..10 thence North East 19..24.. thence North West 60..60 Chains, thence Southwest 16..42 chains thence South East 36..27 chains Containing two hundred and seventy three acres -- Together with all and Singular the rights members, heredataments and appurtenances to the said premisses belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining To have and to hold all and Singular the premisses above mentioned unto the said Absalom Lancaster his heirs and assigns forever And I do hereby bind myself my heirs administrators Executors and assigns to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the said premises unto the said Absalom Lancaster his heirs and assigns against ourselves our heirs and assigns and against Every person or persons whatsoever Lawfully Claiming or to Claim the Same or any part thereof. Witness our hands and seals this Tenth day of February one Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Seven and in the twenty first year of the Independancy of the United States of America.
