James Stroud. Interment will be in Wellford Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dufay Dill, Bill Owens, Hugh McAbee, Orrie Parris, Jess Tapp and Earl Calvert. A son of the late James and Annie McAllister Avery, Mr. Avery was a veteran in World War I and had been a resident of Tucapau for 17 years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church for 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Brown Avery; 7 daughters, Mrs. Ruby Bishop of Charleston, Mrs. Buney Mae Hooper of Liberty and Misses Annie Lou, Edith, Betty Jean, Vivian and Pricilla Avery all of Tucapau; 2 sons, adolf Avery of Charleston and James Thomas Avery, Jr. of Tucapau; one brother, Will Avery of Pelham; 2 sisters, Mrs Addie Pardon of Greer and Mrs. Ida Johnson of Columbia, and 5 grandchildren. The body iws at the home. The Wood Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
