Spartanburg Paper
     Tucapau, April 10- Funeral services for Thomas Avery Sr., 47, who died at 
a Spartanburg Hospitial at 1 this morning will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., 
Thursday at Tucapau Methodist Church by the Rev. James Stroud.
     Interment will be in Wellford Cemetery.  
     Active pallbearers will be Dufay Dill, Bill Owens, Hugh McAbee, Orrie 
Parris, Jess Tapp and Earl Calvert.
     A son of the late James and Annie McAllister Avery, Mr. Avery was a 
veteran in World War I and had been a resident of Tucapau for 17 years.  He 
was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church for 30 years.
     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Brown Avery; 7 daughters, Mrs. Ruby 
Bishop of Charleston, Mrs. Buney Mae Hooper of Liberty and Misses Annie Lou, 
Edith, Betty Jean, Vivian and Pricilla Avery all of Tucapau; 2 sons, adolf 
Avery of Charleston and James Thomas Avery, Jr. of Tucapau; one brother, Will 
Avery of Pelham; 2 sisters, Mrs Addie Pardon of Greer and Mrs. Ida Johnson of 
Columbia, and 5 grandchildren.
     The body iws at the home.  The Wood Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
