Mr. Parton resided at 320 Briarwood Road in Spartanburg for forty-nine years before moving to White Oak Estates. He was born on Jan. 17, 1918, in Greer, to the late William Ellis and Addie Avery Parton. Mr. Parton was predeceased by his wife of sixty-three years, Louise Cox Parton. He is survived by two daughters, two sons-in-law, one son and one daughter-in-law.A Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, two great-granddaughters. Mr. Parton was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg for over fifty- seven years, where he was a former deacon, was a member of the Fellowship Class and was a member of the Young at Heart. He retired from the Community Cash Stores with forty-five years of service, having been a store manager at the St. John Street and West Main Street stores. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, was a former member of the board of directors of the Merchants Bureau of the Spartanburg Chamber of Commerce, and was a former member of the Lions Club. The family will receive friends at Lanford-Dunbar Funeral Home today from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., before the service. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 2, 2004, in the chapel of Lanford-Dunbar Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Don Wilton, the Rev. Sal Barone, the Rev. Bob Morgan, the Rev. Bill Adams and the Rev. Ed Bolton. The Rev. Steve Skinner will sing "Because He Lives"; Betty Jean Hudson will sing "He Touched Me"; and the Rev. Sal Barone will sing "It Is No Secret." Frank Fox will provide the eulogy. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Parton's grandsons, Joel Kelly, Ken Fox, Frank Fox and Patrick Parton, and sons-in-law, Ron Schoch and Gregg Tate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, the "Helping Center," 250 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306.
