I Andrew Barry Moore, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, but Knowing, that it is ordained for all men once to die, I do on this First day of August, Anno Domini, Eighteen hundred and forty-Six (1846) Make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. In the first place; I desire that my Body may, (at Death) be decently intered, At Convenience May offer, at the disoration of my Surviving friends. And with regard to my Wordly Property which I shall die pofsefsed of, I desire it to be dispoded of in the following manner. That is to Say. It is my Wish, that all my just Debts be paid, by the provisions hereafter made for that purpose. Item 1: I will and bequeath to my beloved Wife Nancy M. Moore, All that Tract or parcel of Land on which I now reside, embracing my Lands lying on the South West Side of North Tyger River, Containing about five or Six hundred Acres more or lefs. The Residence of which is known by the name of Freedonia. Also fourteen Acres more or lefs lying on the same Side of Said River, and adjoining the above named two parcels, All my Lands on that Side of Said River. To Have and to Hold the aforesaid Tracts of Land during her natural life. And at her death, it is my Will that She give it to the most needy of her three Children at that time or divide it equally getween them if She may think proper to do so. Also I wish her, (as exprefsed in the Deeds of Lands to my Children) to have the use and benefit of Timber for firewood, buildings and other purposes, off the Lands deeded to them, during her Natural life. -----------------------------Also Also the following negro Slaves, (To wit) _ildy and her four Children (Viz) Fanny, Lindy, Jerry and Janny. Fanny’s four children (Viz) Miles, Flora, Rafe and Georgiana, Lindy’s one Child Viz Isaac. Old Sam, Louisa. Titus. Cato. David & Noah. In all Sixteen Slaves. To have and to hold the Said Slaves with their increase during her natural life, and at her death My Will is that She give them to the most needy of her three Children, or divide them equally amoungst them as She may See proper. Together with Seven head of Horses. All the Cattle and hogs. My new Carriage & harnesfes, one road wagon Cart and oxan, and all My Stock, Such as pertain to that part of My Palntation as are hereby willed to her. Also all my House hold and Kitchen Furniture, except So much as may be here inafter otherwise didposed of. Item 2d I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margaret Ann Moore, All that Tract or parcel of Land, known as the Lower Tract; or as Tract Number three, (no.3) Lying on the North East Side of North Tyger River, containing 946 Acres more of lefs as resurveyed by Mr. John N. Miller, which Said Tract of Land I have heretofore conveyed to her by Deed. Together with such Consitious & restrictious as are therein Specified. Also fifteen negro Slaves (Viz) Ralph. Pinkney. Joan. And her two children (Viz) Thompson and Minus. Leah. Cealy. And her three children (Viz) Harriet. Balos. & Jefferson. Lucy. Sampson. Charlotte. Candy. And little Mose. Also one third part of all my Stock & farming utensels that May belong to my plantaions on the North East side of North Tyger river. Also to have Two Beds and Furniture, one fourth part of my library of Books. And such other Furniture as her Mother may think proper to give her. -------- Item 3d I give and bequeath to my Son Anderson, Charles, Moore, all that Tract or parcel of Land known as the upper tract or tract Numbers one (No.1) Lying on the North East Side of North Tyger tiver. Containing 635 Acres more or lefs, as resurveyed by Mr. Jno. N. Miller. Which Said Tract of Land, Land, I have heretofore conveyed to him by Deed. Together with Such Conditions and restrictions as are therein Specified. Also Seventeen Negro Slaves, (viz) Newman. Stephen. Rachel. And her two Children Rose and Margaret. Fanny. Nelly. And her four Children----- (Viz) Betty. Frances. Simpson abd Violer. Beckey. RanSon. Grace and her Child Charity. Duke and Nan. Also one third part of all my Stock and farming Utensils, belonging to my plantations on the North Easr Side of North Tyger river. Also to have two beds and furniture. One fourth part of my Library of books. My Gold Watch and such other furniture as his Mother May deem proper to give him. Item 4th I give and bequeath to my Son Thomas John Moore, All that Tract and parcel of Land lying on the North East Side of North Trger river, known as the Middle Tract or Tract Number Two (No.2) Containing 675 Acres more or lefs. As resurveyed by Mr. John N. Miller. Which Said Tract of Land I have hereinto conveyed to him by Deed. Together with such conditions and restrictions as are therein Specified. Also Sixteen Negro Slaves (Viz) Big. Mose. Bob. Sillah. And her two Children (Viz) Nancy and Arnas. Rose and her child Martha. Edy and her two children (viz) Aleck and Mary. Sarah. Allen. Cynthia. Old Fanny. Chaney and Bill. Also one third part of all my Stock and farming utensils belonging to my plantation on the North East Side of North Tyger River. Also to have two beds and furniture. One fourth part of my Library of Books. My gold Sleeve button. And Such other furniture as his Mother may deem proper to give him. Item 5th. In grateful acknowledgement for part services and affection Shown to my family. I give and bequeath to Mifs Rosa Duncan Three hundred Dollars, to be paid to her by my Executors, wherever Called upon. Also it is my wish, (should it meet her approbation) for her to remain with my family – during life or pleasure. Item 6th, It is my wish atht my Executors proceed as soon as may be expedient to Sell the following named Negroes (Viz) Prince, John, Issac, and George. Also my Stock in the Southe Carolina Manufacturing Company. And the proceeds to be applied by them in the payment of all my just Debts. And the residue, (if any) to be put out at Interest, or applied by them for the best interest of my Estate. Also any other property of mine whatever that is not herein enumerated, to be Sold by them and the proceeds applied as aforesaid. Item 7th. I appiont – Col Samuel N. Evins as Guardian of my two Sons (viz) Andrew. C. Moore and Thomas. J. Moore. And request of him to take charge of their Persons & Estate Superintend their education Etc. And I request of him to give them a Liberal Education. And for him to endeavour to have them Taught one of the Three Liberal Profesions. And do every thing in his power to have them brought up piously. Item 8th. I appoint my Wife Nancy M. Moore Guardian of my Daughter Margaret. A. Moore To take charge of her person and property superintend her Education Etc. And do every thing in her power to have her brought up piously. Item 9th I do hereby constitute ordain and appoint –Col. Samuel N. Evins Executors. And My Wife Nancy M. Moore Executrix of this my last Will and Testement a Hereby revoking all and every other Testaments and Wills heretofore made by me.
