All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sc/scfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Moore mathew_brady@msn.com November 4, 2014, 3:03 am Source: South Carolina Dept Of Archives And History Estate Record Book 1, Page 387; Estate Packet: Box 64, Pkg 1525 Written: July 26, 1809 Will of Dr. James Moore In the Name of God Amen I James Moore of the State of South Carolina and district of Abbeville being weak in body but of perfect and disposing mind and memory praised be god do hereby and declare this my last will & testament in manner & form following (To Witt) First I desire after my decease to be buried in a descent and becoming manner Secondly it is my will and desire that a speedy collection of Book accounts notes etc be imediately inforced by my executors herein after named and be applyd to the payment of my just debts together with my medecine shop furniture instruments and Medical Books be sold also my negroe fellow Will and the money ariseing therefrom be applied to the payment of my debts and should that be insufficient for the above purpose I further will a certain tract of Land adjoining James Wilson Phillip Burtt and others containg four hundred and Ninety Acres to be sold and the money applied as above but if the other property described should prove sufficient to satisfy my debts the money ariseing from the sale of the land be equally divided be between my beloved Wife & Children hereinafter named Thirdly I will and devise to my beloved Wife Frances Moore during her natural life only one Negroe fellow Named Nedd one Negroe fellow named Circuit one negroe fellow named George together with his wife sally & daughter Paradeen allso all my stock of horses Cattle Hoggs and together with all my house hold & kitchen furniture plantation tools waggon and Geer Rideing Chair & Harness allso the Use benefit and advantage ariseing from my plantation whereon I now live unless she may chose to leave it in which Case it is my will that the land be sold to the best advantage and the money ariseing from the sale be equally divided between my beloved wife and the Children Edward & james & Frances Fourthly I will and devise unto my son Edward Moore a negro wench named Tamer and her son Charles together with her increase except the child she is now pregnat with to him and his Heirs forever Fifthly I will and devise to my son James Moore a negroe wench named Fanny and Louis (son of Tanner) together with her increase to him and his Heirs forever Sixthly I will and devise to my daughter Frances Louisa Moore a negroe girl named Maary Anne and her increase allso Richard (son of silvy decd) Together with the child Tamer is now pregnant with to her & her Heirs forever Seventhly Its my will and desire that if either of my children die without Lawful issue in that case the survivor or survivors of them to heir the portion alloted to the deceased Eightly It is my will and desire that all my property be kept together untill my children respectively arive of age or Marry for the support of my wife & the closthing support & Education of my children unless my beloved wife should marry a Man that would act toward my children in such a manner as my Executors may think shamefull or improper in that case my Executors are requested to interfeer & dispose of my Children & there property as they think most proper and advantageous :Ninethly Its further my will that the part of William Anderson decd Estate that will be comeing to me at the death of Mrs. Anderson be equally devided between my three children equally and that a negroe fellow named Glasgow be brought home after the death of his father January and be provided with a sufficent support (Lastly) I do hereby nominate constitute and appoing my beloved brother Jonathan Moore my worthy friends Archey Mayson John C Mayson and Washington Bostick my Executors to carry this my last will and Testament into Execution hereby revoking all former wills by me made and do hereby declare this my last will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and nine Signed Sealed declared and published by the above mentioned James Moore as and for his last will and Testament in the presents of us who at his request and in his presents subscribe our names as witnesses thereto James Moore Taliaferro Livingston Thos Chiles James Coleman Recorded in will book 1 Page 387 Box 64 Pdg 1525 Proven June 4th 1810 Recorded date not available A.
