It was transcribed and typed by Faye L. Dyess. The original is on file at the South Carolina Archives. A copy of the original is in the possession of Faye L. Dyess. John Hodge to George W. Hodge & Others- Deed of Gift State of South Carolina Sumter District Know all men by these presents that I John Hodge of Said District in consideration of this natural love and affection which I have and bear to George W. Hodge and Gabriel Hodge & John Hodge & Thomas Hodge & Andrew J. Hodge and Samuel Hodge for and toward the better support and maintenance of George W. Hodge Gabriel Hodge & John Hodge & Thomas Hodge & Andrew J. Hodge and Samuel Hodge after my decease & for diverse other good causes and valuable considerations we thereunto especially moving have given granted & sold & by their presents do give, grant & sell unto George W. Hodge one hundred and Sixty six acres of land & being part of a tract of land containing 1000 & no acres formerly Rusidel land, it being its N. east part, also I give Gabriel Hodge 166 acres joining said George W. Hodge tract, I also give John Hodge 166 acres joining Gabriel Hodge tract I also give Andrew J. Hodge 166 acres joining John Hodge part I also give Thomas Hodge 181 acres joining Andrew Hodge part, I also give Samuel Hodge 181 acres joining Thomas Hodge part on the South side of said tract to have and to hold the premises before mentioned on this special trust & confidence & upon this express condition that he the said George W. Hodge, Gabriel Hodge, John Hodge, Andrew J. Hodge, Thomas Hodge, Samuel Hodge their exec & Adm or assigners shall & do present & suffer me the said John Hodge to use, keep & enjoy all & ..........the said land, before mentioned during my natural life without paying or yielding anything for the same or in respect there of & not otherwise and that, from & after my decease then the said George W. Hodge, Gabriel Hodge, John Hodge, Andrew J. Hodge, Thomas Hodge, Samuel Hodge their exec. Advisors or assigns shall or may lawfully may have hold and enjoy the same and every part & parcel thereof and dispose thereof & convert the same to his and their own proper use & behoof as he or they shall think fit.
