LETTER OF ADMINISTRATION OF NANCY HODGE, ADMINISTRATIX OF THE PROPERTY OF JOHN MILES HODGE DECEASED OCTOBER 21, 1806 SOUTH CAROLINA Know all men by these presents that we Nancy Hodge and Benjamin Hodge of Sumter District of state afore said are holden and firmly bound unto William Taylor, Ordinary of the afore said district in the full and just sum of Ten Thousand Dollars to be paid to the said William Taylor or his successors, ordinaries of this county or those certain attorneys or assigns to which payment will and truly be made. We bind ourselves and everyone of us, our and every of our heirs, executors and administrators, for the whole, and in the whole, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated twenty-first day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Six and in this thirty first year of American Independence. The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Nancy Hodge Administratix of the goods, chattels and credits of John Miles Hodge deceased do make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said Nancy Hodge or unto the hands of possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so made do exhibit into the said court of ordinary when she shall be thereto required and such goods, chattels and credits do well and truly Administer according to law, and do make a just and true account of her actings and doings there in when required by the said court, and all the rest of the said goods, chattels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of the said Administor the same being allowed first by the said court shall deliver and pay unto such persons respectively as are entitled to the same by law and if it shall here after appear that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased ad the same be proved in court and the executors obtain a certificate of the probate thereof and the said Nancy Hodge do in such case if required render and deliver up the said letters of Administration then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force.
