Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Lorene Rambo (Hocott@aol.com) 9 Oct 1998 ---------------------------------------- 1811 Elizabeth Powell sells 73 acres to Surrel Halford Deeds of Union County, South Carolina Book L, p. 112 The State of South Carolina, Union District Know all men by these Presents that I Elizabeth Powell of the State and District aforesaid for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred and Fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by Surrel Halford of the State and District aforesaid have granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents do grant Bargain Sell Remiss and Release unto the said Surrel Halford a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing Seventy Three acres on the waters of Rocky Creek a Branch of Fairforest in the District and State aforesaid Being Part a tract of Land of 200 acres granted to Joel Farmer and part of a tract granted to Jesse Lyles and is Laid out in the following manner.  Beginning at a pine Corner of James Jacksons Land and running South 64 E 32 Chains with Said line to a Hickory Corner on Jesse Lyle's Land thence No. 78 E. with said line to a Stake on Jane Hattoy line thence N. with Said line to a Stake Called Britters thence W. with Said Survey to the line of the above mentioned Farmer.  Then with Said line to the Beginning Pine corner.  Together with all and Singular All rights members hereditaments and appurtenances whatever thereunto belonging or in any wise Incident and appertaining.  To Have and to Hold all and Singular the Premises above mentioned with all things thereunto Belonging to the only proper use and behoof of the Said Surrel Halford his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby Bind myself and my heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever Defend all the above mentioned premises to the said Surrel Halford his heirs and assigns against myself my heirs and assigns and against Every other Person or Persons whatsoever lawfully Claiming or to Claim the Same or any part thereof.      In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twenty third day of November One thousand Eight hundred and Eleven.
