Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Lorene Rambo Hocott@aol.com July 1998 ---------------------------------------- Please note that while the deed spellings are Robison and Safold, Lorene Rambo has done the research and classifies the surnames as Robertson and Saffold. --Victoria Proctor, SCGenWeb Archives Manager ********************************************************************** Deeds of Union County, South Carolina Book A, page 241-244 Matthew Robison South Carolina, Ninty six District: This Indenture made the seventh day of February in the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Seventy nine Between Matthew Robison Eldest son and heir at Law of David Robison late of Thickety Creek South Carolina Deceased, and Irby Dewberry acting Executor to the last Will and Testament of the said David Robison of the One part; and William Safold of Thickety Creek South Carolina planter of the Other Part; Whereas the said David Robison was in his lifetime and at the time of his Death Seized in his Demeaners of Fee and possessed of one Tract of Land Situate laying and being on Thickety Creek aforesaid Under and by Virtue of a Grant or letters Patent under the Broad Seal of North Carolina, and whereas the said David Robison on or about the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and seventy one departed this life leaving the said Matthew Robison his Eldest Son and Heir at Law, and appointing Irby Dewberry who is the only acting Executor to the last will and Testiment of the said David Robison, now two thirds of the aforesaid Lands being Exposed to publick Sale Containing two hundred and Sixty six Acres, by the said Matthew Robison now therefore This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Matthew Robison for and in Considration of the sum of five Shillings lawful Current money of South Carolina to him in hand paid at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is Hereby Acknowledged  Hath Granted Bargained Sold, and by these presents doth Grant Bargain and Sell unto the said William Saffold all that and those the Plantation or Tract of two thirds of the land whereon the Said David Robison lately at the time of his Decease lived One Situate laying and being on both sides of Thickety Creek in South Carolina Containing in the whole two hundred and Sixty Six acres Butting and bounding to the North on vacant to the East on lands of John Thompson's to the South on lands vacant and to the West on the one third part of the same Tract as Excepted for the Dower lands in possession of James Terrill Together with all and Singular the houses out houses Edifices Buildings Orchards, Gardens Lands Meadows Commons Pastures Trees Ways Wells Waters, Water Courses lights Easments Profits Commodities Emoluments Hereditaments whatsoever to the said Plantation or Tract of land Containing two hundred and Sixty Six acres belonging or in any wise appurtaining or which now are or heretofore have been Occupied Accepted Reputed Taken Known used held or Enjoyed as part parcell or member of the same plantation or any part there of and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders Rents Isues and profits of all and singular the said premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances To Have and To Hold the said plantation or Tract of land and premises aforementioned in and by these presents Bargained and Sold, and every part and parcel thereof with the Appurtenances unto the said William Safold his Executors Administrators and Assigns from the day next before the day of the date hereof for and during and Untill the full Term of One whole year from henceforth next Ensuing and fully to be Compleat and Ended yielding and paying therefore One pepper Corn at or upon the last day of the said Term of the same Shall be lawfully demanded to the Intent that by Virtue of these presents, and by force of the Statute for Transferring of uses into Possession he the said William Saffold May be in the actual Possession of all and Singular the premises above Mentioned and Sold with the Appurtenances and be thereby Enabled to accept and Take a Grant and Release of the Reversion and Inheritance thereof to him and his Heirs to the Only proper use and behoof of the said William Saffold his Heirs and Assigns forever.  In Witness Whereof the said parties to these Presents their Hands and Seals have hereinto Interchangeably Set the day and year first above written.  Signed, Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of : John Nuckols William Wilkins Philemon Martin Matthew (his T mark) Robison Irby Dewberry Received on the day of the date of the within Deed five shillings lawful Current Money of South Carolina it being the within Consideration paid by the within Named William Saffold to me. John Nuckols State South Carolina, Ninty Six District: Personally appeared before me and being Sworn Saith that he was present and Saw Matthew Robison and Irby Dewberry Sign Seal and deliver the within Lease, and that he saw John Nuckols and Philemon Martin sign their names Together with him as Witnesses.
