Contributed to The USGenWeb Archives by: Lorene Rambo (Hocott@aol.com) 9 Oct 1998 ---------------------------------------- 1808 William Rice sells 66 acres to Joseph Robertson Deeds of Union County, South Carolina Book I, page 478, 1808 State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that I William Rice of the district of Union and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and thirty two Dollars to me paid by Joseph Robertson of the district of Union and State aforesaid Have Granted bargained Sold and released and by these presents do Grant bargain Sell and release unto the said Joseph Robertson all that Tract or parcell of Land Containing Sixty six Acres begining on a Red Oak 3X on Powells Old line running thence N 10 W 21.00 to a post Oak 3X thence S 80 W 34 to a post Oak 3X thence S33 E 28 to a black Oak on the So. side of Robertsons spring branch thence N 70 E 24.75 to the begining it being part of a Tract of Land of 170 Acres Originally Granted to John Birdsong together with all and Singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining.  To have and to hold alland Singular the premises before mentioned Unto the said Joseph Robertson his heirs and assigns forever And I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors Administrators and assigns to Warrent and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Joseph Robertson his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person Whatsoever lawfully claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof.  Witness my hand and Seal this 1st day of July in the Year of Our Lord 1808 and of American Independance the 32nd.  Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Shadrack Johnson, D. Rice South Carolina, Union District      Personally came before me Batte Birdsong one of the Justices for said District the District aforesaid  David Rice and maketh Oath that he saw William Rice sign Seal and deliver the Within deed of Conveyance Unto Joseph Robertson for the use and purpose therein mentioned and that himself and Shadrack Johnson in presence of each other Witnessed the due Execution thereof.
