Union County South Carolina In the Name of God Amen: Be it remembered That I Thomas Minton of Union County in the State of South Carolina, Being weak in body But of A Sound and Disposing mind and memory; (The Lord be Praised Therefore) and Calling to mind the shortness and uncertainty of Human Life have thought fit to make & Publish This my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following {That is to say When it shall Please the Lord to Call me from This Transitory world; I recommend my Soul to the mercy of God who gave it, And my body to the Earth, to be Decently Buried at the Discression of my Executors herein after named- And as touching such worldly Estate as it as Please the Lord in his Infinite mercy to bless me with I have Thought fit to dispose of it in the following manner Viz……… Im primus It is my Will & Desire that all my Just Debts Doctor Bill & Funeral Charges shall be first Paid & fully satisfied out of my Personal Estate and the remainder Thereof I have Thought to Dispose of as follows-Vis…… Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Hannah all the remainder of my Person Estate for the Support of herself and my children who are in their minority untill They shall be of a Lawful age to Support them selves, and Likewise my Manor House and The Profits of my Land for the same time and same intent I likewise Give and bequeath unto my Said wife our Bed whereon we repose with all the furniture thereunto belonging and Likewise my black filly one year old Last spring and her sidessaddle to be at here own Disposal……. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughters Sarah Cooper, and Lyddia minton and Mary and Margaret & Rebeckah & Betsey & Parthena & Rachel The remainder of my Personal Estate To be Equally Divided amongst them when the youngest of them shall Come to the age of Eighteen years and if any of them should Die with out Issue Their Legacy shall be Equally Divided amongst the survivors or their Heirs……………………………… Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my son Richard Minton And to his Heirs & Assigns forever the one half of my Land to be Laid off for him on the upper End thereof he Paying to my Executors Towards the Support of my daughter Hannah the sum of Twelve Pounds Ten shillings sterling at the time that my Personal Estate shall be Divided amongst my other Daughters, and be at half of the Expense of maintaining his mother During her natural Life or Widdowhood in a Decent and Christian Like manner……………. Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Joseph Minton and to his Heirs & Assigns forever The other half of my Land including the House & Plantation where I now Dwell to be Put in Possession when my Personal Estate shall be divided amongst his sisters, he Paying to my Executors Towards the Support of my Daughter Hannah the sum of Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings Sterling in one year after the Division of my Pesonal Estate and being at half of the Expense of maintaining his mother as above mentioned…………… Item It is my Will that if any of the said Twenty five pounds should remain after the Decease of my Daughter Hannah it shall be Equally Divided amongst my other Daughters or their Heirs……………………………….. And Lastly I do hereby appoint my Dear & Loving Wife Hannah to be my (see other side) Executrix and my Trusty Friend John Addington to be my Executor to see this my Last Will and Testament Executed, hereby Revoking and making Voyd all other and former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made and Declaring this Written sheet of Paper and no other to Contain my Last Will and Testament: IN WITNESS whereof I have Hereunto set my hand & seal this Tenth day of September In the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty six……………………..
