C., September 26, 1912, page 5 Death of Mrs. Patrick After nine weeks of unremitting suffering, caused by a complication of diseases, which she bore with the patience and fortitude of a martyr, Mrs. Lula D. Patrick passed away at 8:15 o’clock yesterday evening at her home in West Main street. Mrs. Patrick before her marriage to Mr. Oscar H. Patrick, April 10, 1906, was Miss Lula D. Strong, a daughter of Mr. John H. Strong, of this county, and niece of Hon. R. H. Kellahan, with whom she spent the greater part of her young life here in Kingstree, where she was well known and beloved by everyone who knew her. During her long illness nothing was spared tending to the alleviation of her suffering. At all times she had the best attention that the medical profession could give and was constantly under the care of patient and efficient nurses, but at no time did her affliction seem to respond to treatment, and she gradually grew worse until the hour of her death, though conscious of her condition and surroundings until yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Patrick was a devout Christian, and took an active part in religious work, being a member of Kingstree Baptist church. Funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. E. Hurt, will take place at the grave at 4 o’clock this afternoon, and all that is mortal of this estimable lady will be laid to rest in Williamsburg cemetery in the presence of a concourse of loving relatives and friends. Our tenderest sympathies go out to her devoted husband, her aged uncle, under whose loving care she was raised, and to a large circle of other relatives who are left to mourn her demise.
