                  White Lake

	Rev. Aldrich, a local preacher living near Kimball, was the first
Methodist preacher to hold services in White Lake, preaching in an unfinished
store building in June, 1882. In the fall of 1882 Rev. C. W. Garlock supplied the 
work as pastor. February 11, 1883, Miss Alice Brought gave her certificate of
membership to the pastor, being the first to join the proposed class. David
and Sarah Brought united with the church April 8, 1883, and about the same time
Mrs. Hazard united with the church. These persons formed the first class. The
second place of holding meetings was in the law and loan office of Jones & 
Brought (The building is now occupied by the Aurora County Bank). Next the
congregation worshipped in the first school house built in the place, where 
the first Sunday school was organized. J. C. Read was elected superintendent.
The next removal was to Sanger's Hall. The church was commenced in the spring
of 1883, and was finished and dedicated in 1884. Cost of building, $3,500.
Rev. C. W. Garlock was in October, 1883, appointed pastor; in October, 1884,
Rev. E. W. Sage became pastor; in 1885, Rev. J. W. Bell; in 1886, Rev. N. S. 
Bradley; and in 1887, Rev. W. Underwood, who is the pastor at present. There
are 48 members.
