He moved to Wessington Springs as a child. He was employed as a cowboy adn rancher for several years. On November 4, 1925, Leo married Bertha Burma at Wessington Springs. They farmed in the Wessington Springs area until moving to Huron in 1941. They lived in Huron until 1972, when they moved back to Wessington Springs. In 1978, they returned to Huron and he had lived here since. In addition to being a farmer, he was a carpenter, and pole barn builder in the Huron area. He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Marie Fullbright of Clinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Warren "Mickey" (Velma Lou) Baseler of Huron; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; 3 brothers, Glen Salmon of Boyden, Iowa, Don Salmon of Tacoma, Wash., and Jim Masterson of Colome; 4 sisters, Violet Monroe and Mary Lou Smith of Williamston, Mich., Lauretta Kingsbury of White River, and Mildred Hofer of Reliance; his stepmother, Mary Manning of George, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981, a son, LeRoy, parents, 4 brothers, Paul, Charles, John and Larry, and 2 sisters, Mary Neutchler and Dorothy Wernes. Leo died Sunday morning at the Huron Nursing Home at the age of 88.
