George Chamberlain came to this country in 1867 as a contractor and builder, and for several years was employed up and down the river at the forts. He next settled on a ranch in White Swan township and later in 1880 established a store and roadhouse on Cedar creek. To him was issued the first county license to sell inttoxicating liquor in the county, although far from the first to handle such goods.
