He had been in the employ of Brughier at Sioux Point and later at Yankton Agency. For a while he carried mail. He was a carpenter and surveyor and worked at both. He did much of the work in surveying this county, both under direct contracts of his own and in the service of others who held contracts. His last work of this kind was to subdivide the sections and establish quarter and sixteenth corners on the reservation prepartory to the Indians taking their allotments. He was a right young man with a good education but made poor use of his abilities. He never married. He is now living with Frank Shuck in Lyman county, a charge of Charles Mix.
