Jacob Meyer and his brother Arthur, Hollanders, had located on claims immediately north of Chamberlain's place near the mouth of Cedar creek in 1878. J. L. Walker says they were there in Dec. 1878. Chamberlain was running a road house there, and the arrival of the Meyer's was regarded as an intrusion, and considerable rivalry rivalry developed for what little business came their way. Arthur Meyer removed to California about 1885 and Jacob Meyer remained in that part of the county until his death in Geddes a short time ago. Arthur Meyer worked for J. G. Jones a couple of years.
