	MARTIN J. LEWIS, born Orleans county, New York 1843, son of 
Governor Lewis, of Wisconsin. Located at Vermillion 1869. Engaged in 
banking with Messrs. Imnan and Thompson; prominent Baptist and leader in 
philanthropic enterprises. Died about 1893.
