	EDWARD OLSON, the third president of the State University, was a 
native of Wisconsin, a graduate of the Wisconsin University, and was a 
professor in the old Chicago University. The university was highly 
prosperous under his management. He lost his life in the Minneapolis 
Tribune fire, November 3, 1889.
