ORDWAY, seventh territorial governor of Dakota, was born at Warner, New Hampshire, November 10, 1828. He had for a long time been sergeant-at-arms of the house of representatives at Washington. He came to Dakota to succeed Governor Howard in June, 1880, and continued in office four years. At the close of his term he resided in North Dakota for a period, but soon returned to Washington where he is the owner of the Washington Market.
