	AMBROSE B. ROBINSON, the able and popular mayor of Frankfort, 
Spink county, is a native of the old Empire state, having been born in 
Broome county, New York, on the 18th of July, 1857, and being a son of 
Edward and Eunice Robinson, who were born and reared in that state, 
being of Scotch ancestry. There the father of the subject was engaged 
in lumbering until the early 'sixties, when he removed with his family 
to Iowa, locating in Scott county, where he followed farming until 
1868, when he located in Jackson county, Wisconsin, and continued in 
the same line of enterprise, both he and his wife being now in the 
state of Washington. The subject of this review was reared to the 
sturdy discipline of the farm and his educational advantages were such 
as were afforded in the public schools of Iowa and Wisconsin. In the 
latter state he was engaged in lumbering until 1885, when he came to 
South Dakota and took up his residence in Frankfort, Spink county, 
where he has ever since made his home and where he has been most 
Successful in his business enterprises, which have been carried forward 
with energy, discrimination and good judgment, while his reputation as 
a reliable, sincere and straightforward business man and public-
spirited citizen is unassailable. He is well known in the county and 
commands the confidence and esteem of all with whom he has come in 
contact in a business or social way. He is a stalwart advocate of the 
principles of the Republican party and has been called upon to serve in 
various offices of local trust and responsibility, including that of 
mayor of his home city, to which position he was elected in 1902 and in 
which he is giving a progressive and able administration. He is 
identified with the Masonic fraternity and also the Ancient Order of 
United Workmen.  

	On the 27th of March, 1881, occurred the marriage of Mr. Robinson 
to Miss Alma Jane Ellis, who was born in the city of LaCrosse, 
Wisconsin, on the 11th of December, 1861 being a daughter of William 
and Amanda Ellis. They have five children, namely: Bessie M.. Grace D. 
Clark A., Clare and Zedna.
