BRUMBAUGH, a prosperous farmer and sheep raiser, residing on section 24, in Tory Lake township, is a representative citizen of Brule county, South Dakota. He was born in Scott county, Iowa, January 21, 1852, the eldest of a family of four children born to Moses and Anna (Black) Brumbaugh, both of whom are residents of Brule county. Our subject took up his residence in Dakota with but nineteen dollars, in 1887, and for ten years his life was spent in hard and unprofitable labor. In 1897 he took a small flock of sheep on shares, with results which were beyond his expectations, and he is now the owner of a half section of land, and is fairly started on the road to prosperity. Our subject was married in 1883 to Miss Cora E. Hall. Seven children have been born to them, namely: Morris M., Ira, Elsie, Annie, Ray and Jay, twins, and George. Mr. Brumbaugh is one of the leaders of the Democratic party in Brule county, and has done faithful, efficient work in furthering the principles which he champions, and is widely known throughout his locality. He has been a member of the Democratic central committee for eight years, and lends his influence for high license and against equal suffrage.
