In 1882 he began attending the Northern Indiana Normal School, at Valparaiso, Indiana, and after completing a three-years course took charge of the Fayetteville High Schools. During the World's Columbian Exposition he was assistant manager of the Indiana state exhibit, afterward going to New Mexico as industrial teacher at the Indian Industrial School in Santa Fe. He was next the superintendent of the Indian school in White Earth, Minnesota, and from there went to his present position as superintendent of the Chamberlain Indian Industrial School. The institution is in a progressive state, and is prospering under the control of Mr. Flinn. He is a gentleman fully qualified to fill the peculiar position, and his life in the institutions of like order in other places has given him an opportunity to familiarize himself with the best methods to be employed. Mrs. Flinn, as matron of the school, is assisting her husband materially in the work, and her life since her marriage has been in. the same channel as that of Mr. Flinn, she having been matron in each school with which her husband has been connected.
