HENEGAR, county auditor of Brule county, South Dakota, is a native of Lafayette county, Wisconsin, and was born February 14, 1869. He is the eleventh of a family of fifteen children born to William and Sylvina (Cannon) Hanegar, residents of Brule county, a brief review of whose lives will be found elsewhere in this volume. In March, 1883, the family settled in Dakota, in Red Lake township. In 1895 our subject was chosen deputy sheriff, after which he ran a stage line from Chamberlain to Castalia one year. In 1897 he accepted the office of county auditor, and is at present serving a second term in that capacity. Our subject was married in 1897 to Miss Hattie Dent. Their home has been blessed by the birth of one son, Russell Mr. Hanegar is a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen. In political views he is a Democrat, favors high license, and opposes equal suffrage. He is young in years to have been selected to fill these different important offices, but his judgment is of the best and his honor and integrity are above reproach, and the people of Brule county may well be pleased with their choice.
