KELLEY, editor of the"Woonsocket News", Woonsocket, South Dakota, is conducting this paper with signal ability and success, and holds a prominent position among the young journalists of the state. none of whom have better prospects for a brilliant future in their chosen career. He was born in Iowa in 1879, but a year later was brought by his parents to Woonsocket, and the father, who had previously engaged in agricultural pursuits, bought the "News," of which he is still owner. He made it one of the most popular journals in the county and secured for it a large circulation. Our subject completed his education by graduating from the Woonsocket school. As soon as old enough to be of any assistance he began to aid his father in the office, and was instrumental in gaining for the paper the high reputation which it now has. In 1897 he was given full charge of the same, and has since successfully published it. From the time the paper was established, in 1883, until 1891, it was an Independent Republican sheet, but since then has supported the Populist principles.
