D., is one of the successful physicians of Pierre, South Dakota, and a prominent resident of that city. He has much natural ability, but is withal a close student and believes thoroughly the maxim " there is no excellence without labor." His devotion to the duties of his profession therefore, combined with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of the science of medicine, has made him a most successful and able practitioner, whose prominence is well deserved. The Doctor was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, July 19, 1860, and is a son of Henry and Lucy (Yunkerman) Ruble, also natives of that state. The father, who was a mason by trade, still resides in Fairfield county. The family was originally from eastern Pennsylvania. Reared in his native county, Dr. Ruble commenced his education in its public schools, and later attended the Ohio State University at Columbus. In 1884 he began the study of medicine in that city by attending the Columbus Medical College for one term, and then entered Bellevue Hospital Medical College, of New York City, where he was graduated in 1887. For seven years he engaged in the practice of his chosen profession in western Ohio, and in 1894 came to Pierre, South Dakota, and was not long in building up the large and lucrative practice which he still enjoys. He is also interested in the cattle business and now owns over four hundred head of fine stock. In this business he is meeting with great success. Dr. Ruble was married, in 1889, to Miss Alma M. Brier, a native of western Ohio, who was graduated at the Toledo Medical College, Toledo, Ohio, in 1889, but has never engaged in practice. In politics the Doctor is a Republican, and he has filled the office of coroner. As a citizen he meets every requirement and manifests a commendable interest in everything that is calculated to promote the city's welfare in any line. In manner he is pleasant and genial and is highly esteemed by all who know him.
