History of the Evangelical Church Cemetery The Emanuel Class of the Evangelical Church was organized on Jan. 15, 1880 in the home of Herman Voigt. Rev. H. Osh was the Pastor. He was a missionary from the Minnesota conference. In 1889 a farm house was purchased, the partitions removed and the building used for a church, with Rev. F. W. Tesch serving as pastor. The present church building was built in 1889 when Rev. E. C. Oeder was pastor. On Aug. 17, 1885 the above congregation then known as “Allgemeinde Kirche Fur West BonHomme Co. Territory of Dakota” as recorded in Book J Page 525, Reg. Deeds office, Tyndall, So., Dak. Purchased 1 acre of land for cemetery purposes described as follows: - One acre of land fenced in, the posts describe the line, in the N. W. corner of the N. W. ¼ of sec. 18 Twn. 94N. R60W. and is further agrees that said John Waalkes is to be the manager of above ground as long as he lives. On Dec. 13, 1898 Jan Waalkes and Gretje his wife sold to the Evangelical Association in BonHomme Co. So. Dak. In consideration of one dollar the following parcel of land as follows: - Commencing at the N. W. corner of the N. W. ¼ of section 18, T94N. R60W - Thence E. along section line 21R. and 2 ft. Thence south at right angle to said section line 11R and 4 ft. Thence W. on a line parallel with section line 21R, 2 ft. to the section line on west side of said section. Thence N. 11R and 4 ft. to place of beginning. The intention being to convey 1 - 1/2 acres. This Deed is given to correct prior deed by grantors dated Aug. 17th, 1885 and recorded in book J. Page 525, BonHomme Co. So. Dak. As now recorded in book C. Page 438. Reg. Deeds office. Tyndall, BonHomme Co. So. Dak. The present pastor of the Evangelical Church, Avon, So. Dak. Is Rev. E. T.
