                  Springfield

	About seven years ago, Rev. G. R. Oake was sent here and formed a class.
A. VanCuren was appointed leader. For some reason the class ceased to exist, after
a short time. In November, 1883, a class was again organized, and C. H. Vanslike
appointed leader. Rev. A. Gore was pastor. He failed to fill out the year, and a 
supply was sent. The following winter Rev. L. Hartsough being P. E., gave some of 
his time to this charge. Mrs. I. M. Hartsough held revival services which were
blessed of God, and a few were added to the class. About this time Rev. I. N.
Pardee made a visit to Springfield, and succeeded in securing interest
sufficient to commence the building of a church edifice. The church was dedicated
January 25, 1885, Rev. Pardee officiating. Rev. G. J. Corwin was preacher in
charge. In the fall of 1885 Rev. M. Clyde was appointed to this work. The
church at the Wagner appointment was built during the summer of 1885. The 
church known as the Bon Homme church was built some eight years ago. In the fall
of 1886 Rev. Wm. J. Wilson was sent to Springfield, and has been quite successful
in his work. Many have been converted to God. He is the pastor at present. The 
three church buildings are valued at $4,600. There are 62 members and many
probationers.
