Pop 1,500. Butte county. An incorporated city and the county seat on the C & N W Ry at the confluence of the Belle Fourche and Redwater rivers 30 miles n of Deadwood. Located on the western edge of the government irrigation project and is an important point for shipments of live stock and wool. Has Catholic, Congregational, Episcopal and Methodist churches, 3 banks, a hotel, a hospital, a library, a commercial club, a creamery, a flour mill, an electric light plant and water works.
