BELLE FOURCHE Is the county seat of Butte county, on the Belle Fourche river, 30 miles from Deadwood and Lead. A prosperous and growing city. Has two railroads, the C. & N. W. Ry and Wyoming and Missouri River R. R. Is the greatest initial cattle shipping point in the world. One and three- quarter million pounds of wool were shipped from here during the last year. Surrounded by a good farming and grazing country. The Belle Fourche Irrigation Project, under construction by the government of the United States, near by and adjacent, is nearing completion. This will irrigate about 100,000 acres in the Belle Fourche Valley. All kinds of small grain, vegetables and hardy fruits do splendidly; alfalfa is the principal crop, of which thousands of tons are grown every year. Two or more beet sugar factories will be built within a few years. There are two banks, two newspapers flour mill, electric light plant, creamery; all other lines of business well represented by good and responsible firms. There are good schools and churches.
