Edgerton, Charles Mix Co., SD - Methodist Episcopal Church Records, 1888 This information is from "Palmer's Directory of the Methodist Episcopal Church for Dakota Conference - 1888" by Rev. John G. Palmer. Page 78 - 79 Information transcribed by Joy Fisher, sdgenweb@yahoo.com Edgerton Rev. J. Q. Swim was the first Methodist minister to preach in this section, he having charge of Charles Mix county. The town of Darlington was moved and is now called Edgerton. In 1886 Rev. W. H. Underwood was appointed to this work. During each pastorate the work has been arranged somewhat differently, so that some appointments have been dropped for a time, and others have been placed in other circuits. In the fall of 1887 Rev. James Trewartha was appointed to this charge, and has so arranged the work as to be able to take advantage of being on the ground where will be, in the near future, railroad towns. Rev. Trewartha has had revivals at various points on the circuit this year, and a number have united with the church. At present there are 51 members and 20 probationers. The names of the probationers are not published at this time. Stewards - F. Tomlinson, F. Michaels, Mrs. C. Stall, Mary Grass, John Hammond, Mrs. Mary Alloway, Mrs. E. Bachus, W. Martin, H.
