				BUFFALO GAP

	A small town located in the southeast part of Custer county, on C & N W Ry. 
This place was an important outfitting point for the Black Hills District in an 
early day, but was destroyed by fire soon after the advent of the railroad. The 
surrounding country is rapidly settling up with farmers from the Eastern States. 
Population 150. Elevation 3270 feet.
