Book Title: Doane Robinson's Encyclopedia Of South Dakota

  Astoria is a town in southeastern Deuel County. Founded in 1900 by the Western

Town Lot Co. Was named from a town in Oregon which was named for John Jacob

Astor, of New York City, who established a trading post there in 1811. Market

town for rich farming region. Population, see census.
