H. Ellis WILLIAM E. FINLEY was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, on July 24, 1869 came to South Dakota in the spring of 1892, and November 16, 1893, married Miss Clara A. Larson, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Mr. Finley escaped much of the hardships and disappointments of the earliest settlers. At the end of two years he filed a homestead on the land where he now resides and to this quarter section he has added five more, and now owns 1000 acres of the best of Dakota soil worth forty dollars per acre. Five hundred acres under cultivation. A good artesian well, 24 horses, fifty head of neat stock and fifty hogs.
