All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/sd/sdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Terri Walker terjess@yahoo.com January 1, 2008, 2:33 pm Burke Gazette, undated clipping FRANK HUGES (sic) DIES SUNDAY MORNING Heart failure said to be the cause of death - Resident of the county for 15 years - Was in good health and spent Saturday in Burke Frank Weston Hughes, living several miles southwest of Burke in Jones Township passed away at his home Sunday morning at five-thirty a.m. Mr. Hughes spent Saturday afternoon in Burke with members of his family looking after business matters, greeting friends in the usual way and doing week end family shopping, and had been in good health. Dr. Quinn was called to the home Sunday morning but death came before he could get there. Mr. Hughes came to the county 15 years ago and has lived in the vicinity of Burke since that time. He has been active in various community affairs and is held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. The deceased was born in Courtland (sic) County, New York July 17, 1865 and died January 16, 1927 at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 28 days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Hughes and three grown children: Mrs. Carmen Brunz, Mrs. Lucy Van Cleave, and Arnum Hughes, all of Burke, and many other relatives in this and Boyd County, Nebr. The funeral was held in the Burke Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon and the remains were taken to the Graceland Cemetery for interment. The Gazette joins the large circle of friends in extending sympathy in their great bereavement.
