Wessington Springs Herald
    The W. C. T. U. of Jerauld county held its June meeting at Alpena on the 22d
ult. The afternoon session opened by singing :Work for the night is coming."
Mrs. Smart read an appropriate chapter and Rev. Hoadley led us in prayer. Our
secretary being absent Mrs. Huntley was appointed to serve pro tem. Minutes of
the Waterbury meeting were read. Reports from local unions were called for. The
Pioneer Union mentioned its juvenile work and circulating library. Mrs. Hall
then gave a most interesting account of the Band of Hope at Spring Valley and
Wessington Springs. The two bands number 64. They had recently enjoyed a
delightful excursion to Woonsocket in response to an invitation of the Band of
Hope there. Mrs. Vandervene was present from Dale, vice president of that township.
