Walter Pierce and wife returned Sunday from a lengthy visit to New York. Mrs. Eager left our neighborhood, for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Cline, who is living at Traer, Iowa. Mr. Spencer is attending court, this week at Mason City. The Starkey Bros. are making preparations for winter in the form of comfortable buildings for themselves and stock. J. C. Johnston has retired from the confining life of a merchant and P. M. and will henceforth follow the quiet life of a granger. We wish him success. Mr. LaRue will perform the duties of P. M. in J. C's stead. The bridge across the Firesteel is rapidly nearing completion under the supervision of Mr. Fisher. Much credit should be given him for his untiring efforts in its speedy erection.
